Lot is one of the first documentaries I have ever made, and it was extremely important to me to tell her story, but also the story of her family and those around her. Lotte is herself without regret. She does not hold on to her own faults, is open and knows what is most important to her. Identity is a well-known subject in my work, so it is not surprising to see it back in this film. I have much love and gratitude for Lotte and her family, with whom I'm still good friends today.
Lot is een van de eerste documentaires die ik ooit heb gemaakt, en het was voor mij extreem belangrijk om naast Lotte's eigen verhaal ook een stukje 'realiteit' van haar familie en vrienden, hoe zij Lotte ervaren, te portretteren. Lotte is wie ze is, houdt niet halsstarrig vast aan haar gebreken maar weet wel wat haar belangen zijn. Identiteit is een veel voorkomend thema in mijn werk, dat ook hier opnieuw tot uiting komt. Veel liefde en dank naar Lotte en haar familie, met wie ik tot de dag van vandaag nog steeds goed bevriend ben.
